Jim Hennessey is a marketing executive and nonprofit leader with over two decades of experience helping mission-driven organizations grow their impact through smart, human-centered strategy. He currently leads marketing at Code Platoon, a nonprofit coding bootcamp that equips Veterans and military families with the skills to thrive in tech careers. Under his leadership, the organization has significantly expanded its reach, quadrupled web traffic, and improved conversion through integrated CRM, automation, and data-driven engagement.
Jim’s work blends creative storytelling with strategic execution. Prior to Code Platoon Jim worked at Event 260 where helped scale multi-channel campaigns, launched national brand initiatives, and led cross-functional planning for clients including the National MS Society, Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, AIDS Health Foundation and MMRF. Whether mentoring a young professional or presenting to policymakers on tech workforce funding, he brings clarity, energy, and heart to the table.
Outside of the office, Jim is deeply committed to building inclusive communities. He serves on the boards of Stonewall Sports Chicago and the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus, and previously served on the Clemson University National Alumni Council and the university's LGBTQ+ Alumni Council.
Jim holds a degree in Finance from Clemson University and lives in Chicago, where you can often find him at local events, mentoring, or cheering on his alma mater.
