FaCilitator certification program

Cascade Training to Scale Impact

The New Sector Alliance Facilitator Certification Program is an intensive hybrid experience that offers rigorous training and a carefully cultivated community of practice for mission-driven leaders. This train-the-trainer model develops exceptional facilitators while extending the reach and impact of our evidence-based curriculum by building capacity within organizations and communities to deliver transformative leadership development.

The Facilitator Certification Program reflects our commitment to sustainable, scalable impact through a distinctive train-the-trainer model. By leveraging science-based tools and proprietary curriculum focused on long-term resilience, we equip facilitators to support social sector professionals navigating the intense demands of their work. Each program is designed to develop sophisticated facilitation skills while grounding participants in our research-based approach to leadership development, diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. This model not only creates expert facilitators but also builds a sustainable pipeline of practitioners who can deliver New Sector Alliance's transformative curriculum with fidelity and impact.

Our approach to Facilitator certification

program components

Core Training: An intensive hybrid learning experience where a select cohort of facilitators deeply engages with our research-based curriculum—including our flagship Designing Your Success program—building skills in coaching, facilitation, and supporting leaders through resilience, burnout prevention, growth mindsets, self-awareness, leadership styles, and systemic change advocacy.

Certification Capstone Project: Each Facilitator Fellow delivers a 1-3 hour session on well-being or leadership practices that engages at least ten community members outside their cohort. Fellows work in co-facilitation teams, building collaborative skills that mirror the peer support model central to our programming and transforming their learning into action for the benefit of others.

Ongoing Practice: Certified facilitators are empowered to lead programming for prospective New Sector Fellows, organizational partners, funders, and eventually full cohorts, gaining actionable tools and resources to support others in becoming more efficient, effective leaders while integrating wellness and resilience strategies to ensure the sustainability of the talent pipeline for the social impact sector.

Facilitator certification model in action

Our current Greater Boston cohort exemplifies the program's success. Sandra Sarucia and Nico Bernardo, both graduates of our Facilitator Fellowship, now serve as lead facilitators for the cohort, bringing the full Leadership Longevity experience to mission-driven leaders across the Boston region. Their journey from Fellows to certified facilitators demonstrates how the program creates a sustainable pipeline of expert practitioners who multiply our capacity to support resilient, effective leadership across the sector.
