Corey Hemstreet
She/Her
Arizona Advisory Council on Indian Health Care
My name is Corey Hemstreet (she/her) and I am a tribal citizen of the Navajo Nation- born and raised in Tuba City, Arizona located in northern Arizona and on the western part of the Navajo Nation. I received my undergraduate degrees in Justice Studies and American Indian Studies from Arizona State University and my master’s in public health at Northern Arizona University. Currently, I am serving as the Legislative Liaison for the Arizona Advisory Council on Indian Health Care (AACIHC). The AACIHC, utilizing its knowledge of Indian healthcare issues and tribal sovereignty, serves as a resource for Tribal governments and the State of Arizona, and supports prevention, training, education, and policy development as the keys to meeting the unique health care needs of the Arizona Indian population.
I have worked in the public health realm for about 6+ years and am passionate about working with underserved and tribal communities by advancing health equity through policy making, program development, and advocacy. I am excited to be a part of this wonderful opportunity to further develop my leadership skills, network with other community champions, and inspire the next generation of health leaders.
