Rudy Arellano is a Program Analyst at the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education where he works to support community-based organizations reducing student chronic absenteeism rates. In his role, Rudy provides grant administration and program monitoring for a multi-million dollar D.C. educational grant, Show Up Stand Out, that seeks to address the root causes of absenteeism, support the whole child, and foster community partnerships, ultimately contributing to the long-term success of students and schools across D.C.

As an advocate for educational equity, Rudy is dedicated to making sure that all students regardless of race, sex, sexual orientations, abilities, zip code or socioeconomic status, receive a quality, rigorous, and culturally responsive education. His trajectory has taken him from being an English and Special Education teacher in Dallas and Los Angeles to being a Policy and Advocacy Fellow through Leadership for Educational Equity and an Education Pioneers Impact Fellow. Rudy holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from University of California, Los Angeles and a Master of Science in Educational Studies: Secondary English Language Arts and Special Education from Johns Hopkins University School of Education.

Rudy currently lives in Washington, DC where he enjoys visiting the city's museums and cultural happenings. He grew up in Pomona, CA and San Antonio, TX, and is the proud son of Mexican immigrants.
