Emily Darrow
Chief of Staff
Emily serves as Chief of Staff at New Sector Alliance, where she supports Founder and CEO, Carly Janson in strategic planning and operational efficiency to support the organization's mission-driven work.
Emily's career spans over 15 years in K-12 education and nonprofit leadership. Most recently, she served as Director of Development at a local non-profit in Providence, RI. Prior to that role, Emily spent five years as Chief of Staff at Alma del Mar Charter School in New Bedford, MA, overseeing strategic planning, finance, operations, development, talent management, and family engagement for a network of two high-performing schools serving over 1,000 students. She also led the organization's strategic growth, including a successful expansion application to open a second K-8 campus.
Emily is a Connecticut native who began her career as a Teach For America corps member in New Orleans, and spent the next nine years as a teacher and Assistant Principal at public schools in New Orleans and at Alma del Mar when she and her husband relocated to Rhode Island in 2016.
Emily holds an M.Ed. in School Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education and a BA in International Studies from Colby College. In 2025, she completed the Women's Policy Institute Fellowship with the Women's Fund of Rhode Island, working to increase women's leadership in public policy. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, tennis, gardening, arts and crafts, and spending time with her two young children.
